THE CENTRAL Student Council (CSC) has begun selling the first-ever official Paskuhan lightstick ahead of the highly anticipated grand Paskuhan concert on Friday, Dec. 19.
CSC Secretary Nashville Mauricio said the initiative, titled “A Light That Lasts: The UST Paskuhan Concert Light Stick Project,” is the first official Paskuhan merchandise launched by the council.
Sale proceeds will help areas struck by Super Typhoon “Fung-Wong” (“Uran”) in Aurora and Typhoon “Kalmaegi” (“Tino”) in Visayas, which caused widespread flooding, landslides, and loss of life.
“This community development initiative not only enhances the Paskuhan experience but also instills a sense of social responsibility among students and the University community,” a post from CSC read.
Mauricio said the design of the lightstick also reflected this year’s Paskuhan theme, “Light Among Us, Hope Through Us.”
Mauricio said the concept of a handheld torch-like device stemmed from a Thomasian tradition of bringing candles to Paskuhan concerts in the early 1990s. The first Paskuhan concert in 1991 sought to help victims of Typhoon “Uring.”
Each lightstick costs P150, and will be sold from Dec. 17 up to 5 p.m. on Dec. 19.
The grand Paskuhan concert will be held on Dec. 19 at the UST open field, and will be headlined by Filipino pop acts BINI and Ben&Ben.
An eight-minute pyromusical display will cap the concert, carrying the theme of local fantasy series “Encatandia” and hit Netflix series “Kpop Demon Hunters.”
