EDUCATION alumna and former Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines executive director Ma. Socorro Endrina-Ignacio has been appointed chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Endrina-Ignacio, a 1977 food and nutrition graduate, will serve for at least three years, replacing Virgith Buena.
The retired University of the Philippines Manila full professor headed the Food and Drug Administration’s task force on food fortification, which inspects food nutritional quality.
Endrina-Ignacio also worked for “PRISM 2,” a United States Agency for International Development-funded project, which sought to provide services and awareness on maternal and child health care, and family planning in the Philippines.
She has also collaborated with the Department of Education and the Department of Science and Technology on public health initiatives.
Endrina-Ignacio wrote and co-authored numerous publications on localized public health nutrition evaluation and health development.
The PRC Board of Nutrition and Dietetics monitors the licensure examinations of nutrition-dietitians and enforces ethical and technical standards of the profession.
