UST HAS appointed assistant regents to five academic units, expanding the use of the position across the University.

Fr. Jayson Gonzales, O.P. was named assistant regent of the Faculty of Arts and Letters and assistant to the vice rector for religious affairs.

Fr. Cecilio Magboo, O.P., Fr. Ivan Obando, O.P. and Fr. Valentinus Ruseno, O.P. were appointed assistant regents of the Conservatory of Music, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Engineering, respectively.

Fr. Rudolf Seño, O.P. was named assistant regent of the Junior High School and assistant dean of the Faculty of Philosophy.

The appointments were announced by the University on Sept. 10.

Assistant regents are not new to UST. The old UST High School, now the Junior High School, as well as the College of Education and its Education High School have had assistant regents.

The Sept. 10 appointments expanded the use of assistant regents to more academic units, including the Faculty of Arts and Letters, Conservatory of Music, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Engineering.

Regents are Dominican priests assigned to the University’s academic units to oversee their religious and spiritual formation and help ensure that their programs and activities remain consistent with UST’s Catholic and Dominican character.

Prof. Ma. Criselda Pacquing was meanwhile named acting director of the newly created Career Services and Placement Office.

The University also formally announced Fr. Clarence Marquez, O.P. as rector of the UST Central Seminary. Marquez was installed to the post last month.
