FORMER UST Central Seminary rector Rev. Fr. Honorato Castigador, O.P., became the first recipient of the seminary’s Centuplum Award during the launch of the centennial recognition on July 27.
Castigador is the first of 100 alumni, faculty members, and formators to be honored as part of the seminary’s centennial celebration.
“Through this award, the UST Central Seminary celebrates a century of grace, honoring those whose lives and ministry continue to bear rich fruit for the Church and the world,” the UST Alumni Lay and Priests Association said in a Facebook post.
Castigador earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the UST Faculty of Philosophy in 1968 and his licentiate in philosophy the following year.
In 1972, he completed his Bachelor of Sacred Theology at UST and earned his licentiate in sacred theology in 1973. He then pursued a Bachelor of Canon Law in 1974 and obtained his licentiate in 1975.
He co-authored “Reading Religious Metaphors of Traditional Religions With Ricoeur’s Dialectical Hermeneutics,” published in the 2010 issue of The Thomasian Philosopher.
Castigador served as rector of the UST Central Seminary from 2000 to 2005.
