ROSIE Madulid, a retired faculty member who served as chair of the University of Santo Tomas Department of Biological Sciences, died Wednesday, July 2. She was 79.

Her death was announced by her family in a Facebook post.

The Department of Biological Sciences described Madulid as a passionate educator.

“Her passion for teaching, research, and service continues to inspire those she has mentored and worked with,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Madulid was also a former president of the Biology Teachers Association of the Philippines Inc.

“More than a leader, Ma’am Rose was a mentor, a friend, and an academic mother. Her passion for botany and dedication to biology education made her a pillar of the field,” the association wrote in its tribute.

She was laid to rest July 6 at Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.
