THE FORMER director of the UST Graduate School – Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics has been elected chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Prof. Eric Zerrudo, the cultural heritage program lead of the UST Graduate School, will concurrently serve as NCCA executive director until 2028.
He replaced Victorino Manalo, whose term ended on Dec. 31, 2025.
Zerrudo is deemed a pioneer of cultural heritage mapping and served as faculty member of the NCCA Philippine Cultural Education Program.
His specializations include heritage management, heritage context and issues, and heritage education and interpretation. He is accredited under the World Heritage International Council on Monuments and Sites.
Zerrudo is a former commissioner for the Philippines of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.
The NCCA is the policymaking and grant-giving body responsible for preserving and promoting Filipino arts and culture.
