MIXED methods research pioneer John W. Creswell is set to visit UST in October to headline the third edition of the “Halo-Halo” research fair.

Creswell, a senior research scientist at the University of Michigan’s Mixed Methods Program and founding president of the Mixed Methods International Research Association, will speak at “Halo-Halo 3: The Filipino Mixed Methods Fair” on Oct. 14 and 15.

He will be joined by his wife, cultural psychologist Mariko Hirose-Creswell, a graduate professor of psychology at Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan.

The two will deliver plenary talks anchored on the fair’s theme, “Motivating a Mixed Methods Mindset.”

Creswell has promoted mixed methods research (MMR), which integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches, through his books and speaking engagements for 35 years.

He has written about 27 books on research methods, including the 2014 and 2024 editions of “A Concise Introduction to Mixed Methods Research.”

The two-day fair will also feature research paper presentations, discussions on data analysis and workshops on developing mixed methods projects.

The UST Research Center for Social Sciences and Education will organize the event with the UST Graduate School and the Philippine Association of Mixed Methods Researchers and Emergent Scholars.
