IN CELEBRATON of its 25th foundation anniversary, Teatro Tomasino, the official theater guild of the University of Santo Tomas, will stage Nick Joaquin’s “Tatarin” (Witches’ Sabbath) Nov. 27 and 28 at the Philam Life Theater on U.N. Ave, with three two-hour shows daily (10 am, 1 pm, and 3:30 pm). The show will be directed by one of the guild’s few female directors, Katherine Penaojas. Tatarin tackles the cultural duality faced both by men and women as a result of colonialism.

Teatro Tomasino has been the training ground for show-biz performers such as Gio and Guia Alvarez, Piolo Pascual, Dang Cruz, and John Lapuz. Other notable alumni include playwright Jose Victor Torres, screen play writer Jun Lana, broadcaster Arnold Clavio, and ABS-CBN directors Roxy Liquigan, Erick Salud, and Wenn Deramas. Jennifer B.
