Rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P. has launched a new award to pay tribute to Thomasians and non-Thomasians who have given service to the Thomasian community.
The first “Quadricentennial Award for Service to the University of Santo Tomas” was given Tuesday to lawyer Rafaelito Garayblas, executive secretary at the Manila City Mayor’s Office, during opening ceremonies for Academic Year 2010-2011.
De la Rosa said Garayblas helped start the rehabilitation of España
Boulevard to ease flooding in the campus.
“He is always there to help. I think that is what is missing in [our] alumni. We distinguish them; we recognize them for their achievements. Although sometimes when we need their help, very few really respond,” De la Rosa said.
“I’m very honored and proud to have [received] this award,” Garayblas said. J. C. V. Garcia
