UST General Santos has appointed the first director of its Communications Bureau as the branch campus prepares to welcome students in August.

Silver Hiponia, who had taught at various schools in Mindanao, was named head of the new campus’s Communications Bureau on June 1.

Hiponia is a former faculty member in the governance department at Ateneo de Davao University. He had also taught public administration at Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, and Notre Dame of Salaman College.

His counterpart at the Sampaloc campus, Philippe Hernandez, has been leading the UST Communications Bureau since 2021.

Established in 2018, the UST Manila Communications Bureau handles the University’s broadcast and online media efforts.

In Manila, it oversees TigerTV and Tiger Radio and provides coverage of major academic activities and University-wide events.

It also maintains UST’s online presence, managing the UST website and social media accounts.

On June 28, the Office of the Secretary General announced the appointment of two new officials at the Sampaloc campus.

Leidy Alnajes, previously the Student Welfare and Development coordinator at the College of Education, was appointed faculty secretary of the Graduate School of Law.

Assoc. Prof. Josephine Benjamin was named chair of the Department of Mathematics and Physics in the College of Science.
