THE UNIVERSITY produced 69 new food technologists, including two topnotchers, in the August 2024 licensure examinations, in which it posted a 68.32-percent passing rate.

The number of Thomasian passers came from a pool of 101 examinees. 

UST’s recent rating was an improvement from the 49.30-percent passing rate (70 of 142) it had in August 2023, the first-ever cycle of the board exams.

Claire Sy led the fresh crop of Thomasian food technologists after placing eighth nationwide with an 86.25-percent score. She shared the spot with five other passers.

Joining her in the top 10 was UST alumna Reina Acantilado, who scored 86 percent to place ninth nationwide along with four other topnotchers. 

Dee Galacgac of Mariano Marcos State University-Batac topped the exams with an 88.25-percent score. 

University of the Philippines Diliman emerged as the top-performing school after posting a 96.43-percent passing rate (54 of 56). 

The national passing rate climbed to 51.26 percent (510 of 995) from 39.98 percent (453 of 1,133) in the previous cycle. 

The August 2024 licensure exams for food technologists were conducted from Aug. 10 to 11.
