TWO UST alumni have been named to major positions in the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), a global network of communication professionals.

Journalism faculty member Kane Errol Choa has joined the IABC International Executive Board as regional director for Asia Pacific, while journalism alumna Lynda Corpuz has assumed the role of the region’s brand and communications director.

A former Varsitarian staff member, Choa obtained his bachelor’s degree in communication at UST in 1994. He pursued further studies at Ateneo de Manila University in 2004 and The London School of Economics and Political Science in 2005 as a British Chevening scholar.

Choa is ABS-CBN’s vice president for corporate communications.

Before entering the IABC global board, he served as chair of its Asia Pacific region and adviser of the Philippine chapter. He is the third Filipino to serve on the worldwide board. His term will run until 2025.

Corpuz, also a Varsitarian alumna, completed her journalism degree at the University in 2002 and worked in the fields of communications, media and public relations, and social media.

Corpuz was a strategic communications leader for Fortune 100 companies such as Alphabet, the parent company of Google, and International Business Machines Corp. She is currently a senior communications manager at the UnitedHealth Group’s Optum.

Two IABC Asia Pacific officials were appointed to their second terms: Liza Vengco will remain the region’s awards and recognition director, while Anthony Alcantara will continue his tenure as brand and communications director.

Established in 1970, IABC is a professional association comprising thousands of members across the world. It is behind the Quill Awards, one of the biggest competitions recognizing exemplary work in business communications. Sydney Venice V. Berba
