THREE ALUMNI of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery broke into the top 10 of the October 2024 licensure examinations for physicians, in which UST emerged as the top producer of new doctors. 

Leading the batch of new Thomasian doctors was Rolter Lee, who placed second nationwide with an 89.25% score.

Lee took his pre-medicine degree at the UST Faculty of Pharmacy and ranked second in the September 2018 licensure exams for medical technologists. 

Joining him in the top 10 were UST alumni Kiel Alday, who placed fifth nationwide with an 88.83%  score, and Chelseah Torres, who ranked 10th with an 87.67% score.

UST was named the sixth best-performing school in the cycle after producing 392 new doctors from a pool of 439 examinees, good for an 89.29% passing rate. This was an improvement from the 84.45% (56 out of 66) rating it had in April 2024. 

Only two other schools breached the 300 passers mark: Far Eastern University Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (312 of 448) and University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (328 of 353).  

Isaac Orig of Davao Medical School Foundation topped the examinations with a score of 89.33%. 

The University of the Philippines Manila was named the top-performing school in the exams with a 96.97% passing rate (160 of 165). 

The national passing rate rose to 58.27% (3,845 of 6,599) in the recent cycle from 55.50% (1,906 of 3,434) in April 2024.
