THE UNIVERSITY was named the top-performing school in the September 2024 licensure examinations for elementary-level teachers, posting a perfect passing with all its 84 examinees, including four topnotchers, making the cut. 

UST’s passing rate was an improvement from the 95.83% recorded in March 2024 (23 of 24). 

Primo Magno led the fresh crop of new Thomasian elementary teachers, scoring 93.80% to place No. 2 nationwide. 

Joining Magno in the top 10 were Athena Ibañez (No. 3; 93.60%), Justine Estrada (No. 4; 93.40%), and Daniella Umingli (No. 9; 92.40%).

Cebu Technological University Danao shared the top spot with UST after all its 57 examinees passed.

Scoring 94% to tie for No. 1 were Sheeva Abenido (Holy Child Central Colleges Inc.), Nomel Andan (Cebu Normal University), and Trecia Andujare (Kolehiyo ng Subic), Belle Bacea (Mindanao State University – General Santos City), Mary Fullo (Cebu Normal University), and Allysa Tamondong (University of the Philippines Diliman). 

West Visayas State University La Paz posted a 96.40% passing rate (107 of 111) to become the top-performing school for those with 100 or more examinees.

The national passing rate for the elementary level dipped to 45.53% (20,025 of 43,985) from 46.70% (20,890 of 44,733) in March. 

Secondary level

Meanwhile, UST earned the No. 3 spot in the separate licensure exams for secondary level teachers, in which it posted a 96.09% passing rate (123 of 128). 

This was an improvement from 94.74% in March.

Lara Tero of Cebu Normal University topped the exams with a 94.60% score.

Two Philippine Normal University campuses were named top-performing schools: the Cebu campus topped schools with 300 or more examinees (797 of 845; 94.32%), while the Manila campus led schools with 100 to 299 examinees (174 of 178, 97.75%). Bohol Wisdom College topped schools with 50 to 99 examinees (58 of 59, 98.31%). 

The national passing rate for the secondary level dipped to 56.89% (48,875 of 85,909) from 58.78% (50,539 of 85,975) in the previous cycle. 

The December 2024 licensure exams for elementary- and secondary-level teachers were held on Sept. 29.
