OPM BANDS December Avenue, Spongecola, and SUD are set to take center stage at the 2024 grand Paskuhan concert on Friday, Dec. 20, which will culminate the month-long Christmas festivities at UST.
The concert, exclusive to Thomasians, will be held at the UST Grandstand and Open Field and will also feature P-pop group Alamat and Filipino singer Maki.
Ramon Francisco, president of the Student Organizations Coordinating Council, described this year’s lineup of performers as both “new” and “nostalgic.”
“They’re a mix of everything — band, soloist, group, pati ‘yong genre iba-iba,” Francisco told the Varsitarian. “I hope the community welcomes them with a whole heart.”
Thomasian acts, including the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, UST Yellow Jackets, UST Sinag Ballroom Dance Company, and UST Prime, will deliver opening performances. Before the concert, a parade will take place at 2 p.m. to kick off the event.
Thomasian bands Coalescence, Jyve!, and Miktinig, the three winning bands at “Tunog Tomasino 2024,” will play at the concert. Pop band Top Notch will also deliver a performance.
The grand Paskuhan concert at UST Manila is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., with gates opening as early as 6 a.m.
UST GenSan
Meanwhile, UST General Santos (GenSan) will hold its first-ever grand Paskuhan concert on Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. at the lobby of its Main Building.
The performers will be Thomasian violinist Merjohn Lagaya, actor Kristoffer Martin, and the Dragon Heart Taekwondo Academy.
UST GenSan students will also deliver performances such as plays, band sets, and song numbers.
A fireworks display will cap the concerts at UST Manila and UST GenSan. With reports from Hannah Joyce V. Andaya
