THE ANARGYROI: FMS Foundation Inc. and the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (FMS) will hold a fun run on March 30 to support indigent patients in Manila.
The “Run Through the Past, Race for the Future” benefit run will raise funds to support medical missions in Barangays 397 and 468 in Manila, partner communities of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.
“We wanted to encompass in one activity, one event, promoting good health by doing this run, promoting community outreach — our social responsibility — by doing a medical mission,” Dr. George Co Jr., head of the organizing committee, told the Varsitarian.
The benefit run will take place from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. on March 30 and can accommodate up to 4,000 participants.
It will begin at the UST Open Field and traverse Dapitan Street and Central Market en route to the Universidad de Santo Tomas marker in Intramuros. Participants will return to UST via Binondo Bridge and P. Noval Street.
The benefit run will pay tribute to the University’s history as it passes by the site of the original UST campus in Intramuros and other historical structures such as the Metropolitan Theater.
“You’re running through the past, but you want to race kasi there’s a future that you want to look forward to — a future wherein we have healthier people, healthier students, healthier Thomasians,” Co said, explaining the event’s title.
The early bird registration fee is P1,000 for the five-kilometer run and P1,500 for the 10-kilometer run. This amount is inclusive of a race bib, t-shirt, visor, tumbler, drawstring bag, and medal.
Onsite registration will take place at the Anargyroi: FMS Foundation, Inc. office in Room 118 of San Martin de Porres Building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Interested participants may also register through the official website.
The event will be held in partnership with the City of Manila and the University of Santo Tomas.
