THE COLLEGE of Rehabilitation Sciences (CRS) has introduced a redesigned Type B uniform to mark the college’s 50th founding anniversary.

The uniform will be the official summer attire in the college and will also be used during laboratory classes. Wearing of Type B uniforms in UST begins on the Thursday after Ash Wednesday.

Adopting a “scrubs-style” material and form, the design is a departure from the previous CRS Type B uniform, composed of a white t-shirt and navy blue pants.

The new navy blue shirt has blue and yellow stripes on the collar, reflecting the college’s official colors. It also has the CRS logo on the breast and retains the sarimanok motif on the left seam.

UST’s name and logo are displayed on the back.

The pants now have two sewn pockets and a drawstring. It retains the colors of the previous design but has thinner stripes around the knee area.

CRS Student Council President Maria Pecson said the new Type B uniform’s design was the result of a competition organized by the council in May 2024.

Occupational therapy senior Sean Elmer Bautista won the competition. Elements from the entry of speech language pathology junior Emmanuel Lima were incorporated into the final design.

Rubber shoes remain the standard footwear for the CRS Type B uniform.

CRS Student Council President Maria Cathleen Pecson described the new uniform as a “fresh and unique way to merge tradition and progress,” symbolizing the college’s “legacy of excellence.”

“Reaching this milestone (50th year) is a testament to the enduring legacy of our college, highlighting five decades of excellence, innovation, and community…It represents a bold movement of the college moving forward,” Pecson told the Varsitarian.

Voting for the new uniform involved CRS students, who accounted for 70% of the votes, while the administrators and faculty council members comprised the remaining 30%. Winners will receive a cash prize of P5,000 and a free new uniform set after its production.

Rollout of the new summer attires started in Term 2, though students may continue using the previous version until December. Full implementation will begin January 2026.

Uniform prices range from P890 to P1,050 for the t-shirts and P850 to P990 for the pants. Both items are available in sizes XS to 6XL.
