THE UST Faculty of Arts and Letters (Artlets) has organized a series of activities for the celebration of its 60th anniversary beginning Feb. 21. 

UST’s biggest college, including several departments, academic societies, and the Artlets Student Council (ABSC) will hold seminars, forums, and alumni events as part of the celebrations. 

Here are the activities lined up for the Artlets’ 60th year anniversary: 

Feb. 21

Opening the celebrations is the Department of Asian Studies and the Asian Studies Society’s “Agents of Diplomacy II” seminar set on Feb. 21. 

Feb. 24

The St. Thomas More Lecture, which is dedicated to the English social philosopher and Artlets’ patron saint, will be held on Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. Last year, lawyer and educator Antonio Gabriel La Viña delivered the lecture. 

ABSC will mount “A Timeless Wonderland: Cypher 2025” at 1 p.m. at the Medicine Auditorium. 

Artlets will launch “ABazaar” on the same date. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Feb. 28. 

Feb. 25

The Department of Behavioral Science and the Behavioral Science Society will host the “#riseABoveBESties,” an industry forum for the 60th year celebration, on Feb. 25. 

It will be followed by the ECO Brown Bag session on “How to Become a Thomasian Economist” of the Department of Economics. 

Feb. 26

The Department of Sociology will mount the event dubbed “ONESociology: Weaving the Narratives on the Lived Experiences of UST Sociology Field School in Barangay San Juan, Laur, Nueva Ecija” from Feb. 26 to March 1 at the St. Raymund de Peñafort Lobby. 

A film showing organized by the ABSC and Legal Management Society will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the Department of Journalism’s “Revisiting People Power through Film, Archives, and Dialogue” from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in partnership with Probe Productions. 

A discussion on the contributions of Thomasian philosophers will be held at 9 a.m. It is organized in partnership with the Research Center for Culture, Arts, and the Humanities and the Office of the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation. 

Feb. 27

The Department of Modern Languages will host a Spanish singing contest on Feb. 27, while the Department of Sociology will hold its “ISLA Homecoming: Bridging Academia & Profession” at 1 p.m. 

The Department of Literature and the Literary Society will conduct its research forum “Literary Landscapes: Mapping Critical and Cultural Spaces” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The “Brown Bag Session and Works-in-Progress” of the Department of Communication will be held simultaneously with the “Dalumataan” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Feb. 28

A concert featuring student performers is set at 3 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the UST Grandstand. 

On the same day, the Department of Behavioral Science will conduct the “#theBESoftheBEST: Behavioral Science Industry Forum 2025” at 8 a.m., while the Department of Creative Writing will hold “IlumiNasyon: Panayam ng Tomasinong Manunulat” at 1 p.m. 

March 1

On March 1, the Department of Economics will conduct a Brown Bag session on “Public Economics and the Voting System.” 

The English Language Studies Alumni Homecoming will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Central Laboratory. The Department of Journalism will have an alumni open house at the BGPOP Building.

Artlets alumni will hold a gala night at the Manila Hotel to close the 60th anniversary festivities.
