THE UNIVERSITY significantly improved its global position in the 2025 edition of the EduRank ranking of universities, while maintaining its spot as the fourth best school in the Philippines.

In the latest edition of the ranking released March 2, UST climbed 24 spots to place 2,628th out of 14,131 universities ranked worldwide. It also improved its ranking in Asia, landing on the 834th spot out of 5,830 universities in the region.

UST tallied 4,424 research publications and 50,469 citations.

It achieved the No. 1 rank among Philippine schools for occupational therapy, offered under UST’s College of Rehabilitation Sciences, placing 966th in Asia.

UST produced the most research in the country in the fields of biology (2,558 papers with 36,490 citations), liberal arts and social sciences (2,517 papers with 22,581 citations), and medicine (2,400 papers with 36,887 citations).

It tallied 1,967 papers with 19,656 citations under environmental science and 1,629 papers with citations 14,004 citations under political science.

The University of the Philippines, which placed 1,348th globally, remained the top higher education in the Philippines included in the EduRank. De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University followed at 1,728th and 1,903rd globally, respectively.

Harvard University was the top university globally in the 2025 EduRank, tallying 669,060 publications and 43.31 million citations. It was followed by Stanford University and University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.

Only 38 Asian universities entered the top 300 of EduRank, with the University of Tokyo in Japan leading the region with 453,358 publications and 12.61 million citations.

EduRank assessed the performance of 14,131 universities worldwide using three criteria: research performance (45%), non-academic prominence (45%), and alumni score (10%).
