THREE graduates of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery landed in the top three of the March 2025 licensure examinations for physicians. 

Joseph Perez led the new batch of Thomasian doctors, placing second nationwide with a score of 87.25%.

Joining him in the top three were Aaron Ibe and Kyle Magistrado, scoring 87.08% to rank third.

Both took their pre-medicine at the UST Faculty of Pharmacy and topped the medical technologist licensure examinations. Ibe ranked sixth in 2019, while Magistrado placed first in 2022

UST logged a 79.22% passing rate (61 of 77), a dip from the 89.29% passing rate (392 of 439) it registered in October 2024, when it was named the sixth top-performing school.  

Xavier University was the sole top-performing school in the recent cycle, logging an 80.70% passing rate (46 of 57).

The national passing rate dropped to 49.70% (1,901 of 3,825) from 58.27% (3,845 of 6,599) in the previous cycle. 

The March 2025 licensure examinations for physicians were conducted from March 30 to 31 and April 6 to 7.
