THE UNIVERSITY has named Asst. Prof. Eleighn Castro as the new assistant director of the Office for Student Affairs, one of the eight offices and administrative units that will see leadership changes at the start of the new academic year.
The Office of the Secretary General announced the appointment of Castro and other new officials in a circular dated on July 31.
Castro replaces Asst. Prof. Maria Regina Arriero of the Department of English, who had served the office since 2022.

Castro was the adviser of the Central Commission on Elections and the Student Welfare and Development coordinator of the College of Commerce and Business Administration.
With the new appointment, OSA turns the page from the TomasinoWeb censorship controversy that rocked the office in February 2024.
In the Office of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Charmaine Ponay of the Department of Computer Science will take charge as executive assistant.
Brenda Cabile was named officer in charge of the Financial Planning and Business Development Division of the Office of the Vice Rector for Finance. She had served as the University’s student accounts assistant since 2011.
Meanwhile, architecture alumnus Nicko Montallana was appointed officer in charge of the in house architect post of the Facilities Management Office.
Within the academic units, Fr. Christopher Garinganao, O.P. was named dean of the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Philosophy, months after assuming the post in an acting capacity in February.
Education Assoc. Prof. Myra de Leon was appointed chair of the Department of Filipino. She is also a member of the UST Sentro ng Salin at Araling Salin.
Canon Law professor Fr. Romulo Rodriguez O.P. was named prefect of student-priests at the UST Central Seminary.
Asst. Prof. Anjillyn Perez is the new college secretary of the College of Architecture. Micah G. Pascua
