THE DEAN of the UST Faculty of Pharmacy has been reappointed as chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) technical panel for pharmacy.

Prof. Aleth Dacanay, who will serve a three-year term from 2025 to 2028, will spearhead policy formulation for higher education programs in pharmacy.

CHED technical panel chairpersons and members are also responsible for crafting criteria and guidelines to identify centers of excellence in higher educational institutions.

Dacanay chaired the pharmacy technical panel from 2021 to 2025.

She was previously named first member of the Continuing Professional Development Council of Pharmacy by the Professional Regulation Commission.

Dacanay is the president of the Philippine Pharmacists Association—a national association of licensed Filipino pharmacists.

Dacanay, who has been dean since 2015, obtained her undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate degrees at UST.

The Higher Education Act of 1994 requires CHEd to organize technical panels in different disciplines to assist the commission in monitoring and evaluating program and institutional standards. Micah G. Pascua
