THE DEAN of the UST Faculty of Pharmacy has been reappointed to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Council for Pharmacists, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Sept. 16.
Prof. Aleth Dacanay, who will serve a two-year term, took her oath as the first member of the council on Sept. 15 at the PRC office in Manila.
As first member, Dacanay represents the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPHA), where she has served as president since 2023.
PPHA, the PRC-accredited association of licensed Filipino pharmacists, was established to protect the rights of pharmacists, promote competency, and uphold the nobility of the profession.
Dacanay is the second Thomasian president of PPHA since its establishment, after Prof. Jose Gallardo in 1962.
She was previously named as second member of the CPD council, in her capacity as president of the Philippine Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the national organization for pharmacy deans and chairpersons.
Dacanay, who obtained her undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate degrees at UST, has been the Pharmacy dean since 2015.
The CPD Council for Pharmacists, which was established in accordance with the CPD act of 2016, aims to boost pharmacists and equip them with advanced knowledge and skills to ensure national, regional, and international standards for practice. Louisse Raye Shara C. Santos
