THE UNIVERSITY and surrounding streets will be affected by road closures and traffic rerouting starting Sept. 7 due to the 2025 Bar Examinations, during which UST will serve both as the national headquarters of Supreme Court officials and a local testing center.
On Sept. 7, 10, 14, roads around UST will be temporarily closed, according to a route advisory from the Manila Public Information Office.
The two outermost westbound lanes on the UST side of España Boulevard from Lacson Avenue to Padre Noval Street will be closed from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., while Dapitan Street will be closed from 2 a.m. to 7 p.m..
Motorists and commuters from Dapitan Street are advised to turn right onto Lacson Avenue and then left onto Laong Laan Avenue going to the destination.
Extremadura Street beside the Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, O.P. Building will also be sealed off during the examination dates as the uppermost floors of the building will serve as the national headquarters for the Bar examinations.
Extremadura will also be closed from 2 a.m. to 7 p.m. during Bar exam days.
The Bar exams are expected to affect 12 class days in UST, including ingress and egress in the testing areas at the Benavides Building and St. Raymund de Peñafort Building, and in the headquarters at Tan Yan Kee Student Center and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, O.P. Building, according to the Office of the Secretary General.
The vicinity of the testing areas, which covers the Tan Yan Kee Student Center, Main Building, Miguel de Benavides Library, and Health Service, will be declared a controlled area on Sept. 7, 10, and 14, the days of the Bar exams.
Affected academic units may shift classes to EVM or rearrange class schedules that fall on the Bar exam days.
Academic units are also advised to anticipate problems due to the disruptions and provide in-campus facilities where teachers may conduct online classes while they are on-site.
Remote work and learning will be implemented in the College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS), Junior High School, College of Commerce and Business Administration, Faculty of Arts and Letters, and student organizations at the Tan Yan Kee Student Center from Sept. 3 until Sept. 6. This setup will also be observed on Sept. 8 to 13, and Sept. 15 to 16.
On Sept. 8, 11, and 12, CICS and SHS may resume face-to-face classes except on the 21st and 22nd floors of the Frassati Building.
Testing areas and headquarters will be inspected and sealed during the pre-Bar days on Sept. 6, 9, and 13.
Ingress took place on Sept. 3 and 4, followed by a simulation on Sept. 5. High court officials will have their egress from Sept. 15 to 16.
Only the UST Hospital, Carpark, and Institute of Physical Education and Athletics, Santisimo Rosario Parish, Hotel 1611, and Domus Mariae are allowed to proceed with regular operations during exam days.
Guidance and counseling and library services will operate remotely.
