THE UST Golden Shuttlers suffered back-to-back losses in the UAAP Season 81 badminton tournament at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Thursday.

The Adamson University escaped the Male Shuttlers, 3-2, while the Female Shuttlers succumbed to the National University, 0-5.

Male Shuttlers Miguel Santos and Kristian Barrios fended off Adamson’s Marcus Fabras and Angelo Zerna, 21-18, 21-17, to force a decider.

But the Falcons duo of Elben Concha and Jhonrick Macabenta sealed the win after overpowering UST’s Rossel Enriquez and Josh Defensor, 21-17, 21-16.

“Hindi nagki-click ang mga seniors ko kanina kaya kami natalo. This loss means masyadong maliit na ang tsansa naming makapasok sa Final Four,” UST head coach R-jay Ormilla told the Varsitarian.

In women’s play, Lady Shuttlers captain Kate Tating and Stephanie Mortera fell to NU’s Sarah Joy Barredo and Thea Pomar, respectively, in the first two games.

The tandem of Jiselle Joy Capilo and Jeya Pinlac sealed the deal for NU after pummeling Tating and Elij Peña, 21-13, 21-13.

“Sa sobrang dami ng unforced errors, hindi ko na alam kung paano sila tutulungan. Isang shot pa lang nagkakamali na kami, pati na rin sa receiving at service,” Ormilla said.

Both teams slipped to a 0-2 win-loss card.

The Golden Shuttlers will try to claim their first win against the University of the Philippines and the University of the East in the men’s and women’s division, respectively on Sept. 30, Saturday at the same venue. Ivan
