The UST Lady Shuttlers’ title aspirations came to an end after falling to the Ateneo Blue Eagles 3-0 in the UAAP Season 88 women’s badminton Final Four at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex on Monday, Oct. 21.

Despite the loss, the Lady Shuttlers still have a shot at ending their 17-year podium drought as they are set to face the UP Fighting Maroons on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the same venue, in the battle for bronze.

UST rookie Hanie de Jesus yielded in the first singles match to Mikaela de Guzman, 21-4, 21-9.

In the second singles match, Christine Dorega bowed to Ateneo’s Althea Ocampo, 21-18, 21-7.

Following Ateneo’s 2-0 start, UST’s Jen Saladaga and Rhafi Santos fell to Joachelle Alvarez and de Guzman, 21-10, 21-11, to complete the sweep.

Ateneo booked its sixth straight finals appearance with the win.
