The UST Growling Tigers have reinforced their backcourt, securing the commitment of Californian guard Donovan Sevilla, sources told the Varsitarian.
The 6-foot-1 guard will suit up for the Tigers in UAAP Season 89. He has been with the team since February, training with the squad and participating in a pocket tournament in Agusan del Sur.
Sevilla joins fellow recruit Henry Suico, a Cebuano guard tapped in March to strengthen the guard rotation, along with Kirk Cañete and Mur Alao after the departure of Forthsky Padrigao and Kyle Paranada.
Sevilla played at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Sonoma State before going to the Philippines in February to continue his collegiate career.
He is also listed on the Tigers’ roster for the upcoming Asiabasket NSAC tournament. UST’s tournament-opening game will be April 19 against National University at the Blue Eagle Gym.
