The UST Growling Tigresses moved closer to an elimination sweep after dominating the De La Salle University Green Archers, 22-8, in the UAAP Season 88 Women’s 3×3 basketball tournament on Friday, May 1, at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
UST stayed flawless at 6-0 while DLSU slipped to 2-4.
“As a senior, sobrang happy ako sa nilaro ng mga teammates ko, na hindi kami naging kampante kahit na sino ‘yong kalaban,” Kent Pastarana told the Varsitarian. “Kailangan lang naming mag start strong and finish strong for the next games.”
Erinn McAlary paced the Tigresses with nine points, followed by Coi Danganan with seven.
McAlary drained two long ranges before Danganan added from outside to create a 17-5 cushion.
UST sustained the push as McAlary sealed the match with another two-pointer, 22-8.
Kyla Go had four points for La Salle.
The Tigresses will wrap up their eliminations against the UP Fighting Maroons on Saturday, May 1, at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the Junior Growling Tigresses tallied their second win in the girls’ 3×3 basketball tournament after dispatching the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 17-7, to secure a Final Four slot.
