The UST Growling Tigers clinched a quarterfinal spot in the Asiabasket NSAC College Basketball Campus Tour after dismantling the St. Clare Saints, 87-55, on Sunday, May 10, at the UP Varsity Training Center.

UST stayed unbeaten with a 4-0 record in Asiabasket.

Collins Akowe tallied 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in his Asiabasket debut, while Mark Llemit chipped in 17 points off the bench.

Holding a slim 18-12 lead, UST erupted for a 10-0 run, capped by two bonus free throws from Llemit, to close the opening quarter ahead by 16, 28-12.

St. Clare mounted an 8-0 rally to trim the deficit to 13, 40-27, but the Tigers responded with a 12-4 burst, highlighted by a jumper from Llemit, to head into halftime with a 52-31 advantage.

Ahead by 19, 61-42, UST sparked a 7-2 run, punctuated by a layup from Charles Bucsit, to end the third quarter with a 24-point cushion.

The Tigers dominated the final period with a 19-11 showing to complete the 32-point victory.

Megan Galang paced St. Clare with 16 points.

The Tigers will take on the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the quarterfinals.
