The UST Junior Tiger Sands subdued the Adamson Baby Falcons to remain unbeaten on Day 2 of the UAAP Season 88 high school beach volleyball tournament on Saturday, Feb. 14, at SM Sands by the Bay.

With the victory, both UST squads improved to 3-0 to sit atop the standings.

In the boys’ division, James Apdian and Karl Escobal took control early and never looked back, sweeping Adamson’s Brice Malinao and James Bernabe, 22-15, 21-14.

Meanwhile, UST’s Cheng Dadang and Angelica Del Mar outlasted Adamson’s Ellaine Gonzalvo and Maegan Pineda in three sets, 21-23, 21-16, 16-14.

After dropping the opening set, the Dadang-Del Mar tandem bounced back in the second set, pulling away for a 21-16 win to even the match.

Tied at 14-all in the decider, Adamson committed back-to-back errors, allowing UST to escape with a 16-14 victory.

The UST boys’ squad will next face the UP Integrated School Junior Fighting Maroons, while the girls’ team will take on the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Both UST squads will then face the UE Junior Red Warriors in the afternoon at the same venue.
