THE UST Teletigers Esports Club whipped the FEU Tamaraws Esports, 2-0, in the UAAP Season 87 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournament on Tuesday, May 13, at Gateway 2 Quantum Skyview in Quezon City.

The Teletigers earned three points to top Group A after Day 1.

Teletigers head coach Miggy Arayata said the team needed to make a strong statement after settling for silver last year.

“I told the team na ilabas niyo na lahat kasi syempre, in the nature of competition, there’s a winner and a loser. As long as you give your all, may ilulugar talaga ‘yan e,” Arayata said.

FEU had an early lead midway through the game, securing all turtles and clearing UST’s outer towers by the ninth minute. However, the Teletigers punished the Tamaraws’ overstay in their area, taking the lead and securing the first Lord.

UST kept the Tamaraws at bay, but FEU attempted a comeback in the 21st minute after a “Savage” by Kevin Reyes (Cecilion) during the battle for the evolved Lord.

With 20 seconds left on the Teletigers’ death timer, Reyes’s attempt to end the game was spoiled as UST’s pushing minions destroyed FEU’s base turret, 25-13.

In the second game, the Teletigers jumped to an early 4-1 advantage and dominated FEU with a 12-3 kill differential during the first Lord battle at the 10-minute mark.

UST overwhelmed FEU and wrapped up the game in 12 minutes with a decisive 17-4 win to open their MLBB campaign.

“‘Yong ginawa namin, we have to make sure that we play our game,” Arayata said. “We made our draft specific na tayo dapat ‘yong maglalaro, hindi tayo yung mag-adjust sa kanila.”

The Teletigers will next face the Adamson Soaring Falcons on Wednesday, May 14, at 12:45 p.m.
