THE UST Teletigers Esports Club swept the UE Zenith Warriors, 2-0, on Day 1 of the UAAP Season 87 NBA 2K25 tournament at Gateway 2 Quantum Skyview in Quezon City on Tuesday, May 13.
With the win, the Teletigers topped Group B with three points and a 1-0 record.
“Natuwa ako kasi nilabas nila ‘yong mga pinag-practice-an namin these past months,” UST head coach Augusto de Jesus III told the Varsitarian. “Pinakita nila na kayang-kaya nila ‘yong kalaban, nakita mo naman tambak ang Game 1 and 2.”
Playing as the Boston Celtics, UST’s Daemiel Argame started Game 1 hot, scorching UE’s Ceanne Manalastas and his off-meta Phoenix Suns from deep to gain a 36-19 lead at the half.
Argame maintained his efficiency from beyond the arc for the rest of the game to secure the win and put the Teletigers ahead in the series, 69-48.
It was the same story in the second game as UST team captain Eryx de los Reyes and his Oklahoma City Thunder broke away for a 38-20 lead at halftime against Cyden Ordoña and his Boston Celtics.
De los Reyes continued to penetrate and get easy shots to clinch the opening day victory for UST, 70-42.
The Teletigers will look to ride their momentum when they face the NU Bulldogs Esports Team at the same venue on Wednesday, May 14, at 10 a.m.
