The UST Teletigers Esports Club ended their UAAP Valorant campaign with a 0-2 defeat to the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors and a 2-0 sweep of the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Monday, Aug. 31, at the NAOS Arena in Pasay City.

UST finished with four points, falling short of a playoff berth. The Teletigers placed third in Group A, while Adamson University and UE secured the Final Four spots with seven and six points, respectively.

Facing UE on Split, the Red Warriors took control early and established a 10-4 lead. UST attempted to close the gap to 10-7 behind Elijah Navarro’s triple kill, but UE held firm and secured the map, 13-8.

The Warriors maintained their pressure on Haven, taking a 6-2 advantage before UST’s Nathan Manuta sparked a comeback to make it 6-5 with 11 kills. UE quickly responded as De Guzman delivered a clutch round to restore a 7-6 lead.

UE then went on a 6-3 run to finish the sweep, 13-9.

Against Ateneo on Split, UST gained a 3-2 edge after Edgar Cunanan won a crucial fifth round as the lone survivor.

The Teletigers extended their lead to 11-4, but the Blue Eagles mounted a six-round comeback to cut the deficit to 11-10.

UST reached match point before Nathan Manuta completed a team ace, eliminating Ateneo’s Juancho Garcia and defusing the spike to secure the 13-11 victory.

Team captain Miguel Gumaru paced UST with 21 kills, 15 deaths and five assists.

After the teams were tied at 3-all, the Teletigers pulled ahead 4-3 in the seventh round when Gumaru eliminated Joaquin Antonio.

With the score deadlocked at 7-all, Ateneo went on a 4-0 run to seize an 11-7 advantage, but UST answered back to level the game at 11-all.

As Ateneo planted the spike, Navarro eliminated the final Eagle, allowing Manuta to defuse it and put UST at match point.
