UST Tiger Fencers playing for the Philippine team added silver and bronze medals to the country’s haul in the 2025 SEA Games fencing tournaments on Friday, Dec. 19, in Bangkok, Thailand.
UAAP Season 87 MVP Janna Catantan captured a silver medal to close out the meet, while UST’s Eunice Villanueva and former Tiger Fencer Noelito Jose Jr. also secured bronze medals in their respective team events.
The Philippine fencing team concluded the biennial meet with two silver and 11 bronze medals.
Catantan, alongside her sisters Samantha and Sophia Catantan, and Queen Dalmacio, fell short against Singapore in the women’s team event finals, 45-31.
In the men’s division, Jose, who seized a silver medal in the individual event, settled for bronze in the épée team competition.
The quartet of Jose, Jian Bautista, Lee Ergina, and Sammuel Tranquilan bowed to Singapore, 45-39, in the semifinals.
Villanueva, Khiane Felipe, Christian Anthony Concepcion, and Christian Jhester Concepcion also settled for bronze in the men’s saber semifinals after yielding to Singapore, 45-42.
The Philippine fencing team wrapped up the biennial meet with two silver and 11 bronze medals.
