The UST Junior Golden Booters edged the Adamson Baby Falcons, 2-1, to notch their fourth straight win in the UAAP Season 88 boys’ football tournament at the UP Diliman Football Pitch on Wednesday, March 11.

The win improved UST’s record to 7-1-1 for a league-best 22 points, while Adamson fell to 1-6-3 with six points.

“Medyo marami kaming chances kaso meron pa rin kaming hindi ma-convert. May lacking of concentration din pero masaya kasi nakakuha pa rin kami ng two goals,” UST assistant coach David Basa told the Varsitarian.

“More on polishing lang ng mga tactics at pinakaimportante how to put the ball inside the net.”

UST threatened first with an attempt from Josh Moleje in the 35th minute but missed the target.

The Junior Golden Booters broke through in the 39th minute as Al Francis Orteza converted a corner kick to put UST ahead.

Xin Salanatin kept the pressure in the second half with an opportunity in the 77th minute, but his shot went wide.

Moleje later doubled UST’s lead with a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to make it 2-0.

Adamson pulled one back in the 89th minute through Rafael Ojeda, but time ran out as UST held on for the 2-1 win.

The Junior Golden Booters will next face the FEU-Diliman Baby Tamaraws on Saturday, March 14, at the same venue.
