The UST Tiger Softbelles fell to the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 3-0, in the UAAP Season 88 women’s softball tournament on Tuesday, March 24, at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
The loss dropped UST to 5-2, tying the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons for second place, while Adamson remained on top at 6-1.
UST will have to beat UP for a spot in the finals in the last game of the eliminations.
UST managed only one hit, courtesy of Aiza Ganciar’s single to left field, but came up empty after she was forced out.
Mae Lannga put Adamson on the board with an RBI double that drove in Roma Mae Cruz before Victoria Magbanua crossed the plate in the second inning.
An error by Erika Fernandez allowed MJ Libaton to add another run for the Falcons in the sixth inning.
UST also faltered on defense, as walks issued by Celine Change to Cruz and Magbanua accounted for two of Adamson’s three runs.
In the first round, UST defeated the Fighting Maroons, 5-1.
The Tiger Softbelles will face UP on Saturday, March 28, at the same venue.
