March 19, 2015, 3:17 p.m. – THE UST Tiger Softbelles
mounted a come-from-behind victory against National University, 4-3, in the
stepladder semifinals of the UAAP Season 77 softball tournament at the Rizal
Memorial Stadium Wednesday.
NU blanked the Tiger Softbelles in the first four innings
and established a 3-0 lead. But the Softbelles began to connect with their
batting to register a three-run fifth inning and tie things up.
In the last inning, UST’s Kristine Lacupa hit a grounder,
allowing an Anne Antolihao run to seal the win and secure at least a podium
finish for the Tiger Softbelles.
“Ayaw pa nilang matalo, gusto pang manalo kaya lalaban
pa ulit. Nag-collapse yung pitching ng NU at naging advatage ‘yun sa
amin,” head coach Sandy Barredo said.
The Tiger Softbelles are set to book a ticket to the finals
as they try to overcome a twice-to-beat disadvantage in a rematch against the
University of the Philippines on March 20, 9 a.m., at the same venue. Delfin
