The UST Growling Tigers have lost forward Jun Asuncion to Mapua University, a source told the Varsitarian.

Asuncion was a third-string forward for the Tigers in Season 82.

UST had a deep forward rotation last season, which included Ira Bataller, Sherwin Concepcion, Zach Huang, Deo Cuajao and Nath Consejo.

Asuncion however had limited playing minutes in Season 82, appearing in a lone game where he was unable to score.

In March, however, the incoming sophomore wowed with a 20-point outing in a 53-point UST blowout victory over Technological Institute of the Philippines in the PBA D-League.

Unlike the first four Tigers who had confirmed their departure from the UST team — CJ Cansino, Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso and Bataller — Asuncion did not participate in the controversial Sorsogon training camp.

Asuncion will be eligible to play for four years at Mapua, which is part of the NCAA league. R.B.R. Fuertes Jr.
