Former UST Tiger Judoka Annie Ramirez won the gold medal in the adult women’s -57-kilogram division at the 2026 JJIF World Championships in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Ramirez secured the title after defeating Ukraine’s Diana Lomei, 9-2, in the final.
The victory marked Ramirez’s third consecutive gold medal of the year, following her wins at the 2026 Asian Beach Games and Asian Adult Championship in the same weight class.
Ramirez is now ranked No. 2 in the world in the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s -57-kilogram division with 1,225 points, trailing Sweden’s Astrid Scholin, who has 1,352.5 points. Ramirez previously held the No. 1 spot in July with 2,440 points.
The Philippines finished the tournament with two gold medals, one silver and four bronze medals. Allanee Raye C. Valeriano
