NU overpowers UST, advances to Finals
THE UST Golden Tigresses lacked enough firepower in finishing sets and succumbed to defending champion National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, 21-25, 22-25, 19-25, in Game 2 of the their best-of-three semifinals series in the Shakey's V-League at The Arena in San Juan Tuesday.
The Tigresses looked hapless against the twin towers of Dindin and Jaja Santiago as the former UST high school standouts finished with 14 points apiece for NU.
The Tigresses, who led 13-12 in the second frame, committed four costly errors, which gave NU a 20-14 advantage.

11 May 2014, 9:30 p.m. - THE UST Golden Tigresses ran out of gas in the crucial fourth set and stumbled against defending champion National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, in Game 1 of their best-of-three semifinal series in the Shakey’s V-League tournament at The Arena in San Juan Sunday.
UST, which led 14-17 in the fourth frame, committed key defensive lapses allowing NU to rack up four consecutive to lead, 23-20.
Tigers escape St. Clare in Fr. Martin Cup
01 May 2014, 6:20 p.m. - THE UST Growling Tigers displayed stifling defense in the dying seconds to thwart the St. Clare College Saints, 61-58, in the Fr. Martin Cup Collegiate Open basketball tournament at the Trinity University of Asia gymnasium Thursday.
With under a minute remaining in the game, Tiger Aljon Mariano dished out a crucial drop pass to Kent Lao, who put UST ahead, 61-58.
The Saints had chances to send the game to overtime but they missed two attempts from the three-point area.
Tigresses clobber Lady Falcons
25 April 2014, 8:25 p.m. - THE UST Tigresses held off Adamson University's late-game rally to notch their second win, 73-58, in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan Friday.
Tigress Lore Rivera took over in the final quarter, scoring nine of her 22 points as UST cruised to the top spot of Group A with a 2-0 win-loss record.
The Lady Falcons sparked a 14-5 run early in the fourth period, trimming UST's 16-point cushion to just eight, 49-57, until Rivera took over down the stretch.
Tigresses rain threes on CEU in Filoil Cup opener
23 April 2014, 5:25 p.m. - KRISTINE Siapoc exploded for 27 points as she powered the Tigresses to a 73-57 victory over the Centro Escolar University (CEU) Lady Scorpions in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the Arena in San Juan Wednesday afternoon.
Siapoc, who missed the last UAAP season due to a knee injury, connected on eight three-pointers to anchor the Tigresses to their first win in the preseason tournament.
The Lady Scorpions ignited a 10-0 run midway through the second quarter after capitalizing on UST’s four-straight misses to trim the deficit to three, 32-35.
