The UST Junior Tennisters absorbed their first loss in the UAAP Season 88 boys’ tennis tournament, bowing down to the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 2-1, on Saturday, March 7, at the Colegio San Agustin-Bulacan Tennis Court.
The Junior Tennisters fell to 1-1 in the standings, tying Ateneo, which secured its first win.
Ateneo’s Miguel Lagac dominated Nicolo Olalia, 6-0, 6-0, before UST’s Rastan Baje responded by outlasting Marcus Dimalaluan Salazar in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
In the lone doubles match, Olalia and Baje fell to Ateneo’s Miguel Lagac and Jaime Reyes, 6-4, 6-2, handing the victory to the Blue Eagles.
The Junior Tennisters will next face the National University-Nazareth School Bullpups on Sunday, March 8, at the same venue.
