THE UST Junior Golden Tigresses committed 47 errors and dropped out of finals contention for a second straight year after surrendering to the Adamson University Junior Lady Falcons, 25-17, 21-25, 22-25, 25-21,15- 11, in the UAAP girls’ volleyball semis at the Paco Arena Wednesday.

An attack error from UST sealed the win for Adamson.

“Kaya sana naming kunin ang finals pero lumagpas sa kamay namin; [t]wice to beat pero twice beaten kami. Young team [k]ami pero mahihinog din kami,” UST coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes told the Varsitarian.

The Junior Lady Falcons forced a decider after igniting a 3-0 run at the end of the fourth salvo.

Down by two, 17-19, UST sparked an 8-3 run topped by Regina Jurado’s cross-court kill to finish off the third set.

Trailing 19-21 in the second frame, the Junior Tigresses banked on a 6-0 run capped by KC Cepada’s block on May Ann Nuque’s attack to tie the set apiece.

Ahead by a two-point margin in the opening canto, 17-15, the Junior Lady Falcons used an 8-2 blitz to secure a set advantage.

Adamson’s Kate Santiago led all scores with 26 markers coming from 19 attacks, three blocks and four aces.

Samantha Maranan and Regina Jurado tallied 18 and 17 points, respectively for UST.

The Junior Lady Falcons posted 34 errors.

“Ang dami naming errors. Iyon ‘yong pinipilit naming ibaba [because] that’s beyond our control, moment-wise, bumabaliktad. On the bright side, maraming lesson learned kahit masakit ito sa amin. In season 83, we will come back stronger,” Reyes said.
