THE UST Junior Golden Tigresses escaped the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 25-23, 25-27, 25-15, in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League at the San Andres Gym on Friday, May 31.

Coming from a tight loss against the Bacolod Tay Tung High School, the Junior Golden Tigresses fended off Perpetual to barge into the winning column and secure the second spot in Pool C with a 1-1 win-loss record.

A one-two play from Ashley Manayi gave UST the 25-23 first-set win.

With Perpetual already at set point in the second salvo, 24-23, UPHSD’s setter Jasmine Monte committed a costly net fault that forced a deuce. After another deadlock, 25-all, a combination play by Junior Lady Alta Jemalyn Menor and an attack error by UST’s Bien Arasan tied the game at one set apiece.

In the decider, the game was tied at 12-all in the third frame until UST blasted with a game-sealing 13-3 run to secure its first win.

UST had more attack points with 47 compared to Perpetual’s 41.

The UST Junior Golden Tigresses will next face the Kings’ Montessori School at the same venue tomorrow at 12 noon.
