Fourth-year opposite hitter Regina Jurado will return for her final playing year with the UST Golden Tigresses in UAAP Season 89, IPEA Director Fr. Rodel Cansancio, O.P., confirmed to the Varsitarian on Thursday night.

Cansancio first shared the announcement on Facebook. Jurado, 23, is set to graduate from the behavioral science program in June and will enroll in the Graduate School to remain eligible for her final playing year.

“We’re grateful for her decision — her leadership is a big win for UST and the team,” Cansancio told the Varsitarian.

Jurado is set to return as one of the Tigresses’ leaders in the post-Detdet Pepito era alongside Angge Poyos and Cassie Carballo, who was the first to confirm her return for Season 89.

Jurado, a product of the UST high school program, has been with the Golden Tigresses since Season 85. She helped lead the Tigresses to a bronze-medal finish in Season 88.
