The UST Golden Tigresses are set to bolster their outside hitter rotation with the addition of UAAP Season 88 girls’ volleyball Most Valuable Player (MVP) Diza Marie “Bambam” Berayo, who announced her commitment during the Palarong Pambansa.
“I will be suiting up with the (UST) Golden Tigresses,” Berayo said in a video interview with Jordan Bolos.
Berayo, 18, heads to UST following a decorated high school career with National University Nazareth School (NUNS).
She is expected to provide an immediate lift to a Golden Tigresses squad that lost outside hitters Jonna Perdido and Xyza Gula, both of whom are headed to the PVL.
The prized recruit will be eligible to suit up starting in UAAP Season 89.
Berayo was part of the NUNS squad that finished runner-up in UAAP Season 86 before capturing the championship in Season 87.
She later helped the Bullpups secure a second straight title in Season 88, earning MVP honors and the First Best Outside Hitter award.
Outside the UAAP, Berayo also captured back-to-back gold medals in the Palarong Pambansa — while earning Finals MVP honors this year — and added a gold medal in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League.
The outside hitter has also gained international experience, representing the Philippines in the Asian Youth Games, where the national team finished fourth.
Meanwhile, the Junior Golden Tigresses are also set to receive reinforcements, with Western Visayas standouts Jyrah Romias, Ciarra Calforforo and Jhamielle Cadua expected to join UST following their strong performances in the recently concluded 2026 Palarong Pambansa.
