The UST Golden Tigresses extended their winning streak to three games after sweeping the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights, 25-22, 25-17, 25-13, in the 2026 Shakey’s Super League National Invitationals on Tuesday, July 21, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The victory improved UST’s record to 3-0, while Letran, the reigning NCAA women’s volleyball champion, fell to 1-2.
The Golden Tigresses came out firing, racing to a 10-3 lead behind three early attacks from Avril Bron. The Lady Knights answered with a 9-2 run to tie the opening set at 12-all.
Angge Poyos and Nicen Colendra traded attacks late in the set before UST regained the lead, 21-20. Julia Balingit then delivered a service ace to seal the opening set, 25-22.
Ashlee Knop powered the Golden Tigresses in the second set, scoring five of her six kills in the frame to help UST build a 16-11 advantage. Kim Rubin followed with a personal 3-1 run before Bianca Plaza closed out the set with a block, 25-17.
UST carried its momentum into the third set, with Em Banagua leading the offense as the Golden Tigresses built a 16-11 lead. UST then closed the match on a 9-2 run, capped by Plaza’s match-clinching kill, 25-13.
Erica Gutierrez, Bron and Plaza led the Golden Tigresses with eight points each.
Colendra finished with a team-high nine points for the Lady Knights.
The Golden Tigresses will face Southern Storm Melbourne on Wednesday, July 22, at the same venue. Charles Martin A. Manalang
