Former UST Golden Tigress Eya Laure earned her first international individual recognition after being named Best Outside Hitter for Alas Pilipinas Women at the 2026 SEA V Cup Leg 2 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
After scoring just five points in the Philippines’s opening loss to Thailand, Laure bounced back with 22 points against Vietnam before adding 17 in Alas’s 25-13, 23-25, 25-19 victory over Indonesia to secure the silver medal.
Former National University Lady Bulldog Alyssa Solomon paced Alas with 19 points against Indonesia, while Laure and fellow ex-Lady Bulldog Bella Belen each contributed 17.
Laure also finished as the tournament’s third-highest scorer with 44 points, just one behind Vietnam’s Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Pham Quynh Huong.
Laure and Solomon were the only Alas Pilipinas’s players to receive individual awards in the tournament.
The silver medal marked Alas Pilipinas’ best finish in the competition, improving on its fourth-place result in the opening leg in Hanoi last week.
Thailand won the gold, while Indonesia took bronze and Vietnam settled for fourth, its first finish outside the top three since 2019.
The Philippines also climbed five places in the FIVB women’s world rankings, moving from No. 58 to No. 53.
Alas Pilipinas will next compete at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in September. Allanee Raye C. Valeriano
