Former UST rector named Theology dean
Feb. 25, 2015, 6:20 p.m. - FORMER UST Rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P. has been appointed dean of the Faculty of Sacred Theology.
De la Rosa, who is set to hold office for a term of three years, replaced Fr. Rodel Aligan, O.P., whose term ended early this year.
According to Article 7 of the General Statutes of the Ecclesiastical Faculties, deans of the three faculties–Sacred Theology, Canon Law, and Philosophy–shall be elected through a secret ballot by the teaching personnel of each faculty. A faculty member must at least be an assistant professor to be able to qualify for the position.

Sept. 27, 2014, 2014, 10:25 a.m. - PERSECUTED Christians in Iraq and Syria are considered “modern martyrs of faith” for living up to their beliefs even to the point of death.
In his homily during the closing Eucharistic celebration of UST Martyrs' Week at the Central Seminary Chapel Friday afternoon, Fr. Rodel Aligan O.P., dean of the Faculty of Sacred Theology, said Christians executed by Islamic extremists had shown acts of faith and courage enough to leave a legacy to modern Christians.
“The martyrs are those who claim the unique love of Christ,” Aligan said. “The blood of martyrs would always be the foundation of the Church that we have.”
