UST, NCCA sign pact to preserve PH cultural heritage

May 4, 2015, 3:52 p.m. - UST and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) have formed an alliance to “further protect and preserve the country’s cultural heritage.”

Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P., director of the UST Research and Endowment Foundation Inc. (UST-REFI) and Fr. Harold Rentoria, OSA, NCCA commissioner for cultural heritage, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding to make the partnership formal.

Former UST rector named Theology dean

Feb. 25, 2015, 6:20 p.m. - FORMER UST Rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P. has been appointed dean of the Faculty of Sacred Theology.

De la Rosa, who is set to hold office for a term of three years, replaced Fr. Rodel Aligan, O.P., whose term ended early this year.

According to Article 7 of the General Statutes of the Ecclesiastical Faculties, deans of the three faculties–Sacred Theology, Canon Law, and Philosophy–shall be elected through a secret ballot by the teaching personnel of each faculty. A faculty member must at least be an assistant professor to be able to qualify for the position.

Former rector reminds ‘V’ to ‘find reverence in silence’ on 87th year

Jan. 23, 2015, 6:03 p.m. - SILENCE can be the most powerful gesture of concern, love and sympathy.

This was the message of former UST Rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P. during the Holy Mass for the 87th anniversary of the Varsitarian Thursday.

De la Rosa urged the staff of the University’s official student publication to take time in realizing the value of silence in their work as student journalists.
