A THOMASIAN was appointed assistant secretary at the Department of Energy (DOE) on Oct. 13.
The new energy official, Eden Brion-Baiklan, is a master of laws candidate at the UST Graduate School of Law.
Bakilan was previously appointed head executive assistant at the DOE in August 2025.
She had previous stints at various government agencies including the Department of Tourism, where she served as director of the financial management service in 2024, and the Commission of Audit, where she was named chief of the legal and adjudication review division in 2019.
Bakilan had taught law courses at the Centro Escolar University, Enverga Law School, and Arellano University School of Law.
Her areas of practice cover tax consultancy and advisory, corporate and commercial law, contracts, regulatory compliance, government procurement, and administrative law.
Bakilan obtained her bachelor’s degree in accountancy at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila in 2004, and her bachelor of laws at Arellano University in 2012.
DOE is the government agency mandated to ensure the country’s energy security and accessibility, and formulates policies for energy development and transmission. Alexandra S. Demaisip
